Scarlet Ribbons Finishes Lame

Posted by boominggreyhounds @ 10:02 PM, Saturday Jul 12th, 2008

Ruby came of lame last night in the S3 at Poole last night.

Running from trap one she never got out the box and struggled to get anywhere near the leaders.
Things did not get any better at the third bend, where she seemed to be struggling to get going.
She ran on well to finish in forth place and was one of the first to the pick up.

This was the second time she came of lame and was rested for two weeks, after previously coming of in discomfort in an S3 where she finished fifth.

Though being in obvious pain during the race. She showed her usual guts and determination to finish only a few lengths behind the winner recording a time of 39.83 seconds (including the +15 going).

She was lame in the kennels this morning and will be off the track possibly for at least six weeks.
We should know more in the next week or two.

Our apologies for not updating our posts for the last couple of weeks.

Due to a change of Internet provider, we had to wait for the new server to put us back online.
Which meant there was no way of posting any news during this time.

There will be updates on our dogs and pups very soon.

Thanks for your patience and for keeping the faith.

Second Again For Scarlet Ribbons

Posted by boominggreyhounds @ 8:48 PM, Tuesday Jun 17th, 2008

Ruby was second again at Poole last Friday.

She was made the 7/4 favourite for the A3 race.
Running from her more favourable trap one, she made a good start and got out well.
It was a two dog race with the eventual winner running from trap six just pipping her at the line.
The winning distance was a short head.

It was nice to see Ruby hit the lids, which is something she hasnt done for a while.
Also she ran the second fastest time over 450 meters, recording a time of 27.37 seconds (including the +10 going).

She will be running this Friday in an S2 over the longer 640 meters trip.

No wins for Ruby in May, but never less a couple of good performances.
She ended the month running in a Stayers Maiden Open at Reading and finishing second.
Running very well, she only finished one and a quarter lengths behind the winner.

Ruby Still A Maiden

Posted by boominggreyhounds @ 12:17 AM, Wednesday Jun 4th, 2008

Scarlet Ribbons was in Open Race action at Reading on Thursday.
Running over her favoured six bend distance in the 660 meters Maiden Open Race.

Drawn in trap two, she made her usual slow start out of the traps. But made up ground to take a slight lead at the line first time round.
She ran on well to lead at the run in ,only to be picked up by the eventual winner Lissan Glo in trap three.

The winning time was 42.04 seconds (normal going), with Ruby finishing one and a quarter lengths behind in second place.

Ruby ran very well particularly as this was only her second appearance in an open race. Her first was in a Puppy Open at Reading on Masters night.

Hopefully it wont be too long before she breaks her maiden tag.

Seamus’s Loyal Wins The Derby

Posted by boominggreyhounds @ 3:44 PM, Monday Jun 2nd, 2008

Loyal Honcho was the runaway winner of  The Blue Square Derby at Wimbledon on Saturday.

The Seamus Graham runner flew out of the traps to lead the others at the first bend.
He extended his lead and ran on the win by three and a half lengths, in the time of 28.60 seconds (normal going).
Tyrer Kieran (trap three) was second, with Blonde Dino (trap six) in third. Both ran well despite being badly drawn.
The race was not without incident as Lenson Express (trap two) fell at the second bend, but got up to finish the race sound.

Loyal Honcho second to Weatmead lord in last year’s final, was the worthy winner and done everything right on the night.
This is Seamus Graham’s first winner after many years of trying to win the English classic. Congratulations to Loyal Honcho, trainer Seamus Graham and owner Noel Ryan.
Their Loyalty has been rewarded!

2008 English Greyhound Derby Final

Posted by boominggreyhounds @ 3:51 PM, Friday May 30th, 2008

This year,s English Greyhound Derby has got to be one of the closest matched finals for a long time.
All the finalist have ran well throughout the competition, and have earned the right to be their.
The finalists are:

TRAP ONE
KRYPTONITE Oct 05 (Top Honcho X Three Star Girl)

Trainer: C Lister.

Owner: Chasing Rainbow Syndicate

Trained by the maestro who has experienced winning this before.

TRAP TWO
LENSON EXPRESS Apr 05 (Top Honcho X Gold Seacrest)
Trainer: A Collett
Owner: L Ponder

Has not won a heat but has run well to be in the final.

TRAP THREE
TYRUR KIERAN Nov 05 (Honcho Classic X Tyrur Dee)
Trainer: P Hennessy
Owner: PJ Fahy

Scottish Derby winner and on course for the £1 million Treble.

TRAP FOUR
LOYAL HONCHO Oct 04 (Top Honcho X Midway Crystal)
Trainer: S Graham
Owner: N Ryan

2007 Derby runner up to Westmead Lord. Hoping to go one better this year.

TRAP FIVE
TYRUR LAUREL Jun 05 (Top Honcho X Tyrur Fiona)
Trainer: P Hennessey
Owned: P Mullarkey

Getting better with every run. Could be peaking at the right time.

TRAP SIX
BLONDE DINO Apr 05 ( Daves Mentor X Charquest)
Trainer: J Mullins
Owned: M Currell

Another that has run well. If he gets out the traps ahead, then look out!

The Booming Verdict:

It’s certainly got the makings of a close final.
Traps 1,2 and 3 all railing and Traps 4,5 and 6 liking the middle route.
All six dogs are evenly matched for early pace.
So the first to the bend should dictate the race to the others.

I’m going to stick my neck out and go for Loyal Honcho to win the classic.
With Blonde Dino and Tyrur Kieran close behind in second and third.
This is the one event that has eluded his trainer Seamus Graham and out of the three outside dogs is best drawn in trap four.

1st: Trap 4 Loyal Honcho
2nd: Trap 6 Blond Dino
3rd: Trap 3 Tyrur Kieran

Whoever the winner, he will be a worthy one.
The best of luck to all the finalist.
Let battle commence!

April 2008

Scarlet Ribbons   Bk B Jan 06

Date: 8th Apr 08. Venue: Poole. Grade: S1. Trap: 3. Distance: 640 M. Finished: 6th.

Date: 12th Apr 08. Venue: Swindon. Grade: OR. Trap: 4. Distance: 480 M. Finished: 5th.

Date: 19th Apr 08. Venue: Poole. Grade: S2. Trap: 2. Distance: 640 M. Finished: 2nd.

Date: 26th Apr 08. Venue: Poole. Grade: A3. Trap: 2. Distance: 450 M. Finished: 1st.

Races: 4. Wins: 1.

April saw Ruby finish fifth in an Open Race at Swindon.
She did run well, but even the extra 30 meters seem too short for her.
Passing all the dogs after the line and being first to the pick up.
The one win was in an A3 which she seems to manage to win at the moment with ease.
